GRI – Global Reporting Initiative

Published by Net4SocialImpact Support on

The Global Reporting Initiative (known as GRI) is an international independent standards organization that helps businesses; governments and other organizations to understand, report and communicate their impacts such as climate change, human rights and corruption.

Due to an increasing pressure from various stakeholders to be more transparent about the organizations’ environmental, economic and social impacts, many companies publish some kind of sustainability report, also known as a corporate social responsibility (CSR) or environmental, social and governance (ESG) report.

GRI’s framework for sustainability reporting helps companies identify, gather and report this information in a clear and comparable manner. The GRI Standards create a common language for organizations – large or small, private or public – to report on their sustainability impacts in a consistent and credible way.
