SEJ is the first journal to focus specifically on the social enterprise aspect of entrepreneurial activity. It encourages interdisciplinary and critical studies of social enterprise to deepen our understanding of social enterprise and social entrepreneurship.

Scholarly interest in social enterprise has progressed beyond the early focus on definitions and context to investigate their formation, management, distinctive international differences, and social value creation. SEJ invites scholars and practitioners to examine the phenomena of social enterprise and present their research work to SEJ.
